I've thought about getting back into mapping. I felt like making a tropical island ZS map, similar to the island Lost is set on (Or the island place I thought of while we had to read some book in English, forgot the name of it.)

Basically, it's a tropical island at sunset, with water and shit all around it. Don't worry, there's sharks to eat the people dumb enough to go into it. Zombies would spawn at the side of the island which is in the shadow of the mountain in the centre of the island. Palm trees and shit as well. You could barricade a deep cave system inside the mountain, or defend the climb up to it. Going into the forest would be pretty much suicide, as the later on it gets, the darker it gets possibly.

Thoughts on it? It's probably more than I can chew, but I'd really like to actually finish a map I can be proud of.

Sounds good, sharks though? Good luck with that.

There aren't enough models.

*cough*similar*cough*

Also Manadar, I'm sure there's some tropical trees in CSS, if no then we can make custom ones...

I mean, it can't be that hard, right?

There are a good number of trees around on some sites, but I'd also make some (really) low poly models that you can spam in a skybox.

One thing you have to consider when doing an "island" is the amount of displacements you're going to be doing, a lot of work if you want to make them look good. (atleast close to this http://www.littlelostpoly.co.uk/devblog/)

It is an interesting dilemma. Caterpillar and butterfly are both equally alive, but a chrysalis is merely a tunnel with life at either end. - Dream of the Endless.

I lol'd at that. Maybe it's because Mirror's Edge is nice and shiny.

Because the guy worked on ME at DICE?

Naa that makes far too much sense.

Doubt it since we never saw anything come from it, and he never opened the SDK =P
